WLN-CA.W.18.1Determination of the biochemical oxygen consumption in waterequivalent to NEN-EN 1899-2 (verdunningen NEN-EN-ISO 5815-2)
Principle:The, if necessary pre-treated, analysis sample is diluted with dilution water, which is inoculated with aerobic micro-organisms. The dilution is stored in the dark during an established time (the incubation time) in a completely filled sealed oxygen cylinder at 20 °. Theoxygen content is determined before as well as after the incubationtime. The difference in these two measured contents, corrected for the blank consumption, is the biochemical oxygen consumption of the analysis sample.
Determination:BOD, O2 electrode, water, 5 days
Performance characteristics:
Matrices qualified by the Dutch RvA:Wastewater, Surface water
Reporting limit:0.5 mg O2/l, matrix dependent
Measurement uncertainty:30%
Sustainability:28 days , if frozen (otherwise 1 day)
Sampling bottle:Plastic , white , 1000 ml (fill up to cap)
