The analysis sample is heated at 148 °C during a certain time in a strong sulphuric acidic environment in presence of silver sulphate and mercury(II) sulphate with a surplus of potassium dichromate. The present oxidizable substances are oxidized by the potassium dichromate. The consumed quantity of potassium dichromate is determined spectrofotometrical and is a measure for the chemical oxygen consumption. The measurement in the high range (up to 1000 mg/l O2) are performed at a wavelenght of 605 nm. Measurements in the range up to 150 mg/l O2 are performed at a wavelenght of 440 nm. |
