In a electrolyte solution the electrical current is led through the positive and negative ions. When using electrolyte solutions as conductor, it is not the resistance (unit ohm) which is taken into account, but the reciprocal value (S), the conductivity. Within certain limits, there is a linear connection between (specific) conductivity and ion concentration. The EC is among other things dependent of thetemperature of the solution. The measured values are corrected to avalue at 20 °C. The EC is determined conductometrically after 30 seconds by means of an immersion electrode. |
