WLN-CA.W.24.1Determination of the carbonate and/or bicarbonate content (titrimetrical)in-house method
Principle:Carbonate and/or bicarbonate is titrated with hydrochloric acid up to a pH between 4 and 5. The pH of the equivalence point is strongly dependent on the carbon dioxide present. To a lesser extent the temperature and ionicstrength have an influence on the equivalence point. The equivalencepoint is determined with the 1st derivative of the titration curve.
Determination:Hydrogen carbonate
Performance characteristics:
Matrices qualified by the Dutch RvA:Drinking water, Groundwater, Surface water
Reporting limit:10 mg/l, matrix dependent
Measurement uncertainty:15%
Sustainability:1 day
Sampling bottle:Plastic , clear , 500 ml (fill up to cap)
