WLN-CA.W.20.3Determination of ammonium in water by means of the discrete analyserin accordance with NEN-EN-ISO 15923-1
Principle:In presence of sodium nitroprusside as catalyst, the ammonium with hypochlorite ions and salicylate at pH 12.6 will form a blue/green coloured indol compound. The hypochlorite ions are formed in situ by alkaline hydrolysis of sodium dichloroiso cyanurate. The extinction at 660 nm is a measure for the ammonium content. Sodium citrate is used to mask interfering cations.
Determination:Ammonium (mg N)
Performance characteristics:
Matrices qualified by the Dutch RvA:Drinking water, Groundwater, Surface water
Reporting limit:0.02 mg N/l, matrix dependent
Measurement uncertainty:15%
Sustainability:21 days , if conserved with H2SO4
Sampling bottle:Glass , brown , 100 ml , conservation with H2SO4 (fill up to the neck of the bottle)
